A small town on the Grow
Working with a team from NC State University, the Town of Benson developed its Economic Development Strategic Plan which is designed to address four main goals: develop infrastructure, manage property availability, enhance job opportunities, and effectively market and brand the town.
Located at the mid-point between Miami and Boston, where I-95 (the "Main Street" of the East Coast) intersects with I-40, Benson, North Carolina is a logistical dream location for business.
Access to domestic and international markets:
Most East Coast destinations are within a day's trucking distance, and 70% of U.S. and Canadian markets can be reached overnight.
Rail service is extensive, and two deep-water ports are less than two hours away.
Access to an exceptional labor environment:
Featuring an affordable, productive and well-trained workforce, supported by world-class educational resources.
Access to a business-friendly climate: With the state capitol right next door, you're positioned to take full advantage of all that our right-to-work state has to offer, including generous tax credits and incentives.
Access to resources: Benson is just minutes away from the renowned Research Triangle
Park and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, four major research universities, and the nation's largest military installation.
World Class Education & Training
North Carolina pioneered customized job training
for new and expanding businesses. Today, this state-sponsored program is considered the best of its kind and is administered through the state's Community College System. Johnston Community College in neighboring Smithfield offers associate degree programs and specialized training for industries. In most cases, training is free to qualifying businesses.
Always Looking to Improve
In 2018, the Town of Benson hired Rich & Associates to conduct a parking study in our downtown area to determine what improvements needed to be made in order to fully maximize our visitor potential. This study was completed in the fall of 2018.
North Carolina is home to several top ranking higher education institutions. Some of these institutions with advanced resources are less than an hour commute, with Campbell University located just 12 miles west of Benson.
